The study for MDS part 1 exam is more or less similar to that of FCPS part 1, with the addition of clinicals, which in my opinion can be covered from oxford clinical dentistry handbook or maybe from dentogist clinicals.
There are some model papers present on UHS site, which are also of great help.
So in short you can prepare for MDS Part 1 Exam by following Books:
Books which you use for FCPS Part 1 (You can cover basic subject mcqs from Jahangir khan’s Book or Coffeedent (Coffeedent is better choice as it contains more questions)

How to Apply for MDS Part 1 at PIMS?
The test is also very easy. There Test form is available on Shaheed zulfiqar Ali bhutto medical university (SZABMU) website , in the download section.
You can download and print the form, fill it and attach the required attested documents with it.
You have to make a challan of Rs 16000 in any National Bank for SZABMU, PIMS hospital , Islamabad.
In the last, submit them in the examination center of PIMS , through TCS or you can submit them by hand as well.
The form submission will be started from the week next to announcement on the website.
